- Warm-up: Which type of biomolecule is an enzyme? What are the monomers (individual repeating chemical units) that are joined together to form this type of biomolecule? [3]

- Quickly go over biomolecules graphic organizer [8]

- Finish Biomolecule Assembly [40]

- Introduction to Enzymes (reading on your own) [20]

- Start Enzyme Lab (choose factor and design experiment) [30]


HOMEWORK:

Enzyme Lab Instructions

BIOLOGY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use these instructions along with the Enzyme Lab Guide to carry out an experiment on plant-derived peroxidase enzyme.
  1. Make sure you have done the reading on enzymes before you begin.
  2. Open the Enzyme Lab Guide for Mr. Bursch's Biology and Honors Biology classes and read the entire document carefully.
  3. Confirm with Mr. Bursch that you understand the student expectations for this lab before you even begin to write up your procedure with your lab partner.
  4. Do any needed additional background research to help you better understand the question you are trying to answer with your experiment.
  5. Complete the Enzyme Lab Worksheet at the end of the Enzyme Lab Guide and show your procedure to Mr. Bursch for review before you begin any part of your experiment.
  6. Set up and conduct your experiment. Use the Enzyme Lab Worksheet you have been typing on to record all of your notes and data. Be sure to take photos of your lab setup and you and your partners in action.
  7. When you have finished gathering data, complete the conclusion section of your Enzyme Lab Worksheet by writing three paragraphs of 5 to 8 sentences each in which you explain all of the results you observed and what you think those results suggest, what went wrong or what was difficult during the experiment, how you would improve your experimental design, and any new questions you came up with during your experiment that you would investigate with future experiments.
  8. Submit your Enzyme Lab Worksheet by placing your completed copy of the Enzyme Lab Guide in your biology turn-in folder.

HONORS BIOLOGY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  7.
