Daily Summary 09-06

----------------
BIOLOGY
----------------

IN CLASS:

- Objective: SWBAT list/describe all levels of biological organization AND use resources of textbook to complete scavenger hunt

- Work on It’s Alive! paragraph [10]

It’s Alive! Directions

- Look around the room or use your imagination to come up with an object that you believe is a living thing.
- Write a six or seven-sentence paragraph on a separate sheet of paper explaining what characteristics or features make this thing qualify as being a living thing that is currently alive
- Guiding questions: Does this thing respond to events in its environment? How? Does/can it change over time? How? Does it move? How? What’s going on inside this this thing/what’s it made of?

HOMEWORK: Finish It’s Alive! paragraph

IN CLASS:

- Objective: SWBAT list/describe all levels of biological organization AND use resources of textbook to complete scavenger hunt

- Warm up: What is a hierarchy? Name the smallest building blocks of regular matter that you know.  [3]

- Biological levels of organization [20]

-Textbook Scavenger Hunt [20]

- Work on It’s Alive! paragraph [~10]

- Check graphing practice HW [~5]

It’s Alive! Directions

- Write a short story (1 page) on a separate sheet of paper about someone discovering a thing that they believe is alive. As the story unfolds, be sure to describe/explain what characteristics or features make your main character(s) (the discoverer) believe this thing qualifies as being a living thing that is currently alive

- Guiding questions: Does this thing respond to events in its environment? How? Does/can it change over time? How? Does it move? How? What’s going on inside this this thing/what’s it made of?
