Daily Summary 03-31

AGENDA:

– Objectives: SWBAT, in review, describe the structure and major functions of the biomolecule known as DNA, plus be able to describe genetic mutations and their possible effects on proteins/organisms

– Warm-up: Copy and answer the review questions that appear after this agenda slide (10 points, get stamp on log) [10]

– Work on unit review handout [30]

– Get mutations activity stamped if you didn’t last week [~30]

– Last day to turn in genetic code/protein synthesis activity

– If you still need to correct an unscored online DNA quizzes, make an appointment to come in to Wednesday tutorial

– DNA UNIT EXAM TOMORROW (p.3) and WEDNESDAY (p.2)

– Objective: SWBAT complete activity 3.2.3, start 3.3.1

– WARM-UP: Explain how a single mutation of one base (e.g. C being changed to T) in DNA can cause a problem like sickle cell disorder.

– Complete activity 3.2.3: Does Changing One Nucleotide Make a Big Difference? (Drawings due in class today, activity handout portion due by 9 pm tonight in LMS)

– Start Activity 3.3.1: complete steps 1, 2, & 3 of part 1


HOMEWORK:

– Make sure activity 3.2.3 is finished and submitted by 9:00 pm tonight
