BIOLOGY

AGENDA:
- Objectives: Describe the processes of
transcription and translation with no major factual errors and
transcribe and translate a “sense” strand of DNA with no more than 1
error
- Warm-up: If a cell suddenly was in need of a
particular protein, like amylase (an enzyme used to break down starch
into simpler sugars) for example, how would the molecular machinery of
the cell know what the correct sequence was for the string of amino
acids that forms amylase so that it could build this polypeptide?
- Finish and turn in DNA replication activity [30]
- DNA structure/wrapping/replication quiz (POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT CLASS PERIOD) [30]
- Introduction to protein synthesis (“Central Dogma” of biology) [20]
- Transcription / translation practice sheet (stamped, DUE Thurs.)
- TSOTS Student Blog Post #6 (DUE Friday)
- Show me your DNA structure/wrapping/replication questions
OUTSIDE OF CLASS:
- Finish TSOTS Student Blog Post #6
- Transcription / translation practice sheet
- Think about which ESLP projects you might want to do this semester—signups begin next week!
