AP Environmental Science: Rock ID Book Directions

AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

Create a Rock ID book based on the rocks and minerals on display in the classroom. The book should be made from white paper and include the following information:


  1. Name of sample/specimen (systematic and common)
  2. Color sketch of the material
  3. Designation as mineral or rock
  4. If rock, list mineral(s) typically found in this type of rock
  5. If mineral, list common rocks in which this mineral is found
  6. For rocks, identify as igneous extrusive, igneous intrusive, sedimentary or metamorphic
  7. List any properties of the rock/mineral that make it valuable to humans
